Muchenje – Ideal for the river

Choose to Cruise The Chobe with Far Fewer Boats.
Perfectly nestled in a prime spot in the Chobe Forest Reserve, Muchenje Safari Lodge time their river trips to avoid the crowds, providing a sense of ‘private safari’.

The Chobe River offers some of Africa’s most incredible game viewing, but at the same time, there is no denying that it has begun to attract large numbers of visitors in its busier areas.

To maximise their guest experience, Muchenje take to the water early afternoon, and stay afloat for 3 hours. This is the optimal time for photos, with the golden light at its best. They then take advantage of their time by game driving back through the main national park and forest reserve as the sun begins to set. This sidesteps the cluster of boats from other local lodges that all appear mid afternoon.

Also, watch this space as the lodge hopes to obtain a new second jetty that will service trips on the western side of the park.

Muchenje Safari Lodge is located well away from the masses on the waterfront and Kasane, offering the best of both worlds. Its unique position results in guests not even having to enter the busy main park for amazing wildlife encounters. Boat trips can be taken as a full day’s activity, with a sumptuous picnic lunch and sundowners included. This is the perfect way to see mass herds of elephants, an array of birdlife, hippos and crocodiles. And rates start at $395ppn all-inclusive.
