Okavango Rescue – 5 Years of service

Okavango Air Rescue started its service some five years ago with the by now famous, trade mark bright red Bell Jetranger Helicopter. Being the only helicopter born emergency rescue operation in Botswana, primarily servicing the Okavango Delta and the Central Kalahari, OAR steadily expanded its services in order to be able to provide its patrons with all the initial needs in case of an emergency. By now the company has established the one and only emergency holding facility to intermediate intensive care level at Maun International Airport and has expanded its fleet with the purchase of a fully medically equipped fixed wing aircraft, a Pilatus PC-12, capable of reaching any airport in Southern Africa. This allows for an up to modern standards, smooth and fast transfer from the bush directly to Johannesburg for example. OAR has furthermore entered a service level agreement with Emergency Assist to provide road ambulance services in all the cities with airports in Botswana, as well as Johannesburg. A further partnership was established with Maun Medical Centre to provide follow up on emergency and primary healthcare at the highest level, including 4-D scan, x-ray, ECG etc. We will of course also advise on tropical diseases, vaccinations and have all our blood examinations done through Diagnofirm, the largest laboratory in Botswana.

Visitors to Northern Botswana can secure the helicopter rescue service for themselves for the minimal access fee of Pula 175.00 only (approx. $ 15.00), which assures OAR’s helicopter response in case of a life threatening emergency. Further treatment is on a fee for service basis, but the OAR team will manage all the patient’s requirements from actual medical need, to liaising with international insurances and arranging onward transportation if necessary.

In case of any medical need in Northern Botswana, Okavango Air Rescue is capable of delivering to the best and most reliable modern standards. To become a patron, please visit our website or contact our office for group registrations. Follow us on facebook https://facebook.com/okavangorescue/
