Roots and Journeys , Launches Botswana’s “Little Lodge” circuit

Roots and Journeys is the culmination of years of combined Botswana experience of husband and wife Jacques and Anna Van der Merwe (nee Butterfield).

Having spent time working in and managing some of the country’s top camps in 2014 they embarked on their own camp project. Mopiri, meaning “little island” in the local Bayei language. Mopiri opened in 2015 and is now the flagship camp of the new group. From its opening Mopiri has proven to be extremely popular with both tour operators and clients.

The Roots and Journeys concept is to offer “the best value for money lodges and camps in Botswana combing: land, water and sand and showcasing the best of the country”

“Our aim is to create a circuit that opens up Botswana in an affordable way to a bigger market including families and multi generation travellers” To complete the Roots and Journeys circuit two new camps will open in 2017/18.
