Sensational footage of one of Africa’s most endangered and elusive carnivores… Kalahari icon, the brown hyena. The spirit of secrecy. Filmed close to Koro Island Camp in Tuli, Botswana.
The Tuli is known for its rarities, and none more so than the elusive brown hyena, one of the most endangered predators in Africa. At Koro, our resident predator research program monitors the movements of these animals, documenting their movements, territories and interactions with their spotted cousins as well as leopard. Guests at our camps are encouraged to participate in the field research by checking our camera trap sites and identifying individual animals. All under the expert guidance of head researcher Sander Vissia, guests receive a unique insight into the little understood world of our brown hyena … an exclusive safari add-on!
