Kwando Safaris charity work

Kwando Safaris supports The Lady Khama Charitable Trust. Established in 2002 with a view to continuing the charitable work that Lady Khama dedicated much of her life to.  The Trust focuses on the disadvantaged and does so by supporting and initiating charitable undertakings throughout the country.  In principle the Trust aims to target gender based organisations and those which assist disadvantaged children.  The current Patron of the Trust is Lady Khama’s son, His Excellency the President of Botswana, Lt. General Seretse Khama Ian Khama and the Chairperson is her daughter, Ms Jacqueline Khama.

Kwando Safaris echoes the Lady Khama Charitable Trust’s commitment to Botswana charities and hence the introduction of a ‘matching’ programme.  For every tourist who donates to the Trust, Kwando Safaris will donate or ‘match’ an equal amount, up to a total of P500,000 per year.

One of the charities supported by the Lady Khama Charitable Trust is the Tshidilo Stimulation Centre.  In June,  with the support of Safari Spar in Maun and the Maun community, Kwando Safaris raised P9170.60 for the Tshidilo Stimulation Centre (TSC).  The centre cares for 31 children with acute disabilities.  They are transported to and from home each day and given a hearty meal.  For the previous two weeks the centre had been unable to open due to lack of funds for food and other supplies needed to run the school.  As a result of this fundraiser the doors are now open again.  On the last Saturday of each month Kwando Safaris will set up a table for donations outside Safari Spar with all donations going to TSC.
